Do you have a startup business? Would you like to receive a scholarship for it? One student startup business could be granted up to $10,000 (a generous gift from SproutBox and Ice Miller LLP) if the student can show they are committed to drive the business forward either through the successes the business has already seen or by business plans. If the business is a team, the money will be divided evenly between the members. To start, the winning business will be given a $5,000 scholarship and a work space set up in the School of Informatics, Computing, and Engineering to help develop the business over the summer term, achieving milestones along the way. If the team progresses enough by the end of summer, an additional $2,500 scholarship will be awarded as the business continues developing during the fall semester. If another set of objectives is reached the business will earn a renewal and additional $2,500 scholarship for the spring semester.
While the opportunity is through the School of Informatics, Computing, and Engineering, all College of Arts and Sciences students are encouraged to apply if they meet the requirements. To apply you must submit an online application as well as a 2-minute video telling about your idea, your team, and your passion or inspiration for the project. Team members’ resumes and the link to your video may be emailed to Travis J. Brown by Friday, March 2 at 5 pm EST. More information can be found on the school’s website or on the flyer.
