Asking About Work Sponsorship
Unfortunately, the recruiters who work at the career fair rarely know much for certain about whether or not their companies offer work sponsorship for international students. Sometimes, they don’t even know what that means. That can be really frustrating for international students.
We recommend that you practice having this conversation with a career coach before going to the fair and doing it in-person.
Have a goal in mind that you’re pursuing, but even as you’re pursuing that goal, have a backup plan (or two) in mind, in case your first goal doesn’t pan out. This is good advice for everyone, but particularly for international students seeking work authorization in the U.S. If you can’t get work authorization or a visa here, what’s the next step?
