Consider This: Alternative Careers in International Studies

Are you having trouble deciding what your post-college career(s) is going to be? Does it seem like there’s a million different paths with a millions different ways to get there? Yea, no big surprise there…right? The process of finding a career, let alone career in liberal arts, is pretty difficult—nebulous, even. Luckily, the Association of Professional Schools of International Affairs (APSIA) created a fabulously detailed blog on some traditional and nontraditional career paths for students interested in international affairs. The blog offers information in four main areas (the public, multilateral sector, nongovernmental, and private sectors) as well as expertise for specific subject areas, such as conflict resolution, energy and environmental sustainability, human rights and international law, development and relief, and much more!

For each sector, APSIA provides numerous career resources, such as sample employers, pro tips for finding work in the sector, and skills and experience which are relevant for the types of jobs in the area.
