Now Hiring: Report for America seeks Corps Members – Apply by Jan. 31

Report for America is a national nonprofit program deploying talented, service-oriented journalists unto under-covered areas to provide Americans with the information they need to improve their communities and hold powerful institutions accountable. They aim to place 1,000 emerging journalists in local newsrooms across America within 5 years.

Become a Corps Member 

The Basics

  • Report for America pays half the salary – up to $20,000 – for an entry level reporter
  • Corps members are full-time beat reporters of their host newsrooms
  • Work on a youth-created media service project
  • Write 2 essays for Report for America / The GroundTruth Project
  • 1-year commitment with an option for a 2nd year
  • Intensive in-person training and remote support of corps members

Dates

  • Application due January 31
  • Newsrooms will interview top candidates in March
  • Winning Corps Members are notified in late March
  • Corps members join newsrooms in June
