Want Startup Culture? Check out Spot, Inc.

Career fair season is upon us, and Hoosiers are on the lookout for jobs and internships. The Walter Center spoke with Ashley at Spot, Inc. to learn more about their opportunities and to dispel some of the myths of working in logistics. This is what Ashley had to share.

What are the biggest misconceptions about working in logistics?

“If you are anything like me, when I thought about working in the logistics industry, I immediately thought of a working in a warehouse. We are the middle-man, so a non-asset based company. This means we have a great office located in downtown Indianapolis, with a pretty unique work environment. I also thought logistics would be boring. This couldn’t be more untrue. Logistics is fast-paced, challenging and no 2 days are the same.”

What is the culture at Spot like?

“There are a growing number of people who don’t want the whole “suit and tie” environment. The casual dress code is a huge plus, and we have a ton of events that encourage teambuilding and an overall positive company culture. We have a bowling alley and a gym, which I think gives a lot of insight into our culture. Also, you really do get the opportunity to make an impact. The logistics industry is booming, and Spot is a place you can work hard for internal growth and see it happen.”

If a student has no experience in logistics or sales, can they apply to your jobs?

“Absolutely! We have many people who work at Spot that had no previous experience in logistics or sales. Spot offers a 90 day training program to bring new hires up to speed on Spot, logistics and the role itself. I look for candidates who would do well in a fast-paced environment and has incredible attention to detail.”
