Interested in a career that can help businesses stay safe in the midst of a global pandemic? Is it important have a defined path for growth at a company? Do you want the support it takes to succeed and grow at your first job out of school?
If those sound good to you, check out Buckeye International, Inc.!
We caught up with Criminal Justice alumni Ryan Pittman to hear how his first couple years at Buckeye International is going and offer advice for how to get connected to a great company.
Ryan met with Buckeye International his senior year at a College of Arts + Sciences Career Fair. After speaking with a representative and giving his resume they reached out for a first round interview. After his third interview he was offered a position to join Buckeye’s Sales Management Program which offers comprehensive training and support. Ryan shared, “Since my start date, I went to our Corporate Headquarters in St. Louis to further my product knowledge and sales skills with other new hires across the country. It was great to meet the Corporate Executives and fellow employees during the visit. It was a family type of atmosphere and I still communicate with several employees from Corporate. I have been able to grow/develop my territory through hard work and support from Buckeye employees. I am now going back to our Corporate owned Ranch in Missouri with other advanced reps, to go to a Leadership training to further develop management skills. I will be eligible for a promotion to Account Executive after this and am looking forward to taking the next step towards management within this organization.”
Ryan appreciates not only the variety of tasks his day-to-day work offers but also the opportunity to build relationships with customers where he can offer a needed service, especially right now. “We manufacture and supply FDA regulated hand sanitizer, EPA registered disinfectants to customers during a time of need, especially during a Pandemic. Buckeye provides the products and programs you need for overall well-being and safety, including hand hygiene programs, enhanced cleaning programs, disinfecting programs, antimicrobial product floor protection, training materials, and in-person trainings.”
Growth opportunity is important to Ryan and something he encourages students to consider as they look at accepting a job. “I also encourage students to look at promotional opportunities with the companies they are interested in. One of the biggest reasons why I chose Buckeye was for the defined career path to management and the opportunity for a long-term career.”
