If you want to gain experience in mental health case management, The Bowen Center just might be the place to start! What’s more, they will be at our College of Arts + Sciences Career + Internship Fair on February 11! We spoke with Wade from the Bowen Center to learn more about what they do:
Can you describe to us what the Bowen Center does?
“As the largest Community Mental Health Center in Indiana, our mission is to strengthen our communities and to improve the health and well-being of those we are privileged to serve. We use evidence based practices that treat the whole person. Our team of board-certified psychiatrists and psychologists, highly trained and certified therapists, nurses, and case workers deliver comprehensive care and treatment for mental health conditions.”
What is the most challenging part of working at the Bowen Center? And the
“I think the most challenging and enjoyable part of Bowen are the same. When you work for Bowen, you are working to help those in need. Sometimes that can be a challenge to build that relationship and to assist someone in building those skills/supports. It can be a challenge when you have had a rough day and feel that maybe you aren’t making a difference. But the enjoyable part is when you do realize that you are making that difference and you are making someone’s life better. It’s hard work but the rewards are far beyond anything that can be explained.”
Do students have to have a certain major to apply for your jobs?
“No they do not!”
