One-On-One and Roundtable Discussions with Alumni

9:00 AM – 10:15 AM; Poplar Room, IMU

Thom Patterson, Senior Producer at CNN Digital will be hosting a small round table discussion with students. Learn about Thom’s career path (IU to CNN) and discover how you can best prepare yourself for opportunities at CNN or in Digital Production. Max of 6 students – first come, first serve.

10:30 AM – 11:45 AM; Dogwood Room, IMU

Abrim Schmucker, Senior Chemist at The Dow Chemical Company, will be hosting drop-in office hours. Discuss career opportunities in science research and gain advice from a fellow Hoosier on how to stand out when applying to positions.

Linda Voss, President at Inklings LLC and Project Creator, Director, and Manager at NASA is reviewing and providing feedback on job application writing samples. To participate, please send in your 2 page or less writing sample to by Monday, February 27th to schedule your 15 minute appointment. Slots will be filled on a first come first serve basis.

1:30 PM – 2:45 PM; Dogwood Room, IMU

Shannon Cogan, Anchor for CBS4 Louisville will be meeting with students one-on-one to discuss careers in broadcast. Shannon is happy to review reel material with you.

Keith Sims, a School-Based Therapist will be available to chat about careers in counseling. Keith is discussing open opportunities with Adult and Child Care Services. Learn about these roles and chat about ways to become a competitive candidate.

3:00 – 4:15 PM; Dogwood Room; IMU

Brandi Vardiman, founding principal at KIPP STAR Harlem Prep Elementary School, will host a small round table discussion with students regarding her career in education. As an entrepreneur in urban education, Brandi will share insights from her perspective: both as a teacher and administrator. Only 10 spots available so arrive early – first come, first serve.
