Liberal Arts Impact: Biotechnology & Microbiology

Are you interested in picking up a major in either Biotechnology and/or Microbiology? Do you want to learn more about the knowledge you’ll gain from coursework in these two majors at IU and how this knowledge gives you an edge in the job market?

Liberal Arts Impact is a series of events that have connected thousands of Indiana University students directly with hundreds of College of Arts + Sciences alumni. This informal event allows you to hear from alumni of the IU Biotechnology and/or Microbiology Department on how they’ve used their liberal arts education in starting and advancing their careers. These alumni work in a variety of industries and will share ways to strategically leverage the advantage a liberal arts degree has across career fields.

Alumni Guests Include:
• Sofia Espada: Regulatory Reporting Specialist, Cook Medical, Bloomington, IN

• Kenneth Guerra: Attorney, Finnigan, LLP, Washington, D.C.

• Elizabeth Laskowski: Research Technician, Fred Hutch, Seattle, WA

• Jhomad Marquez: Cell and Gene Therapy Sales Specialist, Cytiva, Atlanta, GA

Current faculty from the IU Biotechnology and Microbiology Department will share how the skills and knowledge they’re teaching in the classroom relates directly to the ever-evolving world of work. They too will illuminate how obtaining liberal arts skills provides an advantage in an unpredictable future job market.

This is also a great, low-key event for networking with alumni!
