2022-2023 Shoemaker Scholars
Due to a generous gift from John and Donna Shoemaker, the Luddy School of Informatics, Computing, and Engineering was able to launch the Shoemaker Scholars Program, a cross-campus student entrepreneurship ambassador group, in January 2016. The Shoemaker Scholars are a prestigious group of ten undergraduate students selected for their entrepreneurial ambition and drive. As a Shoemaker Scholar, students receive a scholarship of $3000 per academic year, $1500 per semester. Current members are required to re-apply to ensure that the group continues to allow in new members.
Students interested in being seriously considered for this selective scholarship must be an undergraduate in good academic standing (cumulative and current grade point averages of 3.0 or better) through Spring 2023 at IU Bloomington and must be able to clearly articulate their passion for innovation and entrepreneurship, both through their future career aspirations and their current entrepreneurial endeavors, such as innovation and entrepreneurship group involvement, certificates and degrees being completed in innovation and entrepreneurship, and startup businesses developed or being developed. In addition to financial support, the Shoemaker Scholars engage in activities which enhance their knowledge of and experience with innovation and entrepreneurship. This includes an expectation that they contribute to programs at IU Bloomington to facilitate the dissemination of information and promotion of resources to students interested in innovation and entrepreneurship at Indiana University, such as the management of the StartupIU website and newsletter (http://startupiu.com).
Applications are due to Dr. Travis J. Brown, Senior Executive Assistant Dean (firstname.lastname@example.org), by Friday, December 3rd at 5pm EST.
