The Indiana Legislative Services Agency has full-time temporary job openings for the positions of Editorial Assistant, Word Processor, and Assistant Print Administrator in the Office of Code Revision. The Office of Code Revision is responsible for the legal review, editing, printing, and publication of documents for the Indiana General Assembly.
The Editorial Assistant is primarily responsible for proofreading, editing, and performing electronic tests to ensure the quality and accuracy of legislative documents.
The Word Processor is primarily responsible for typing, processing electronic documents, conducting initial editorial review, filing, and checking reports.
The Assistant Print Administrator is primarily responsible for the printing, delivery, and electronic filing of legislative documents.
Additional responsibilities for each position may include editing, proofreading, and word processing for publication of the Indiana Code at the conclusion of the legislative session.
Applicants must (1) have excellent word processing, proofreading, grammatical, and problem solving skills; (2) be comfortable handling time-sensitive documents; (3) be able to work long hours, including nights and weekends (position may accrue overtime pay consistent with Agency guidelines); and (4) be able to commit to work through June 2020. A bachelor’s degree or its equivalent is preferred. Professional experience in proofreading and editing or a degree in English or journalism is beneficial.
