This position is located in the Office of Building Renovation and Exhibition Services (OBRES), National Museum of American History (NMAH), Smithsonian Institution (SI). The employee is responsible for the oversight of contract design and fabrication of exhibitions, programming spaces, and maintenance/rehabilitation of public spaces.
- Leads the planning and organization of the design and fabrication of major exhibitions, programming spaces, and public space renovations including participation in comprehensive master planning for interior and exterior public spaces through the entire life cycle of the contracting and programming process.
- Designs exhibits using accepted design processes and protocols (both two-and three-dimensional design) using software such as Vector Works, Adobe Creative Design Suite, and similar to create computer modeling and the manipulation of digital images and graphics.
- Writes contract documents that include, but are not, limited to a scope of work describing exhibit design and/or fabrication roles and responsibilities, project history and background, project schedule and deliverables, acceptance and payments.
