The BioMedical Engineering Society (BMES) is an Indiana University branch of the national society, found here. The Indiana University chapter was formed in 2018, with the founding of the Intelligent Systems Engineering (ISE) Program. Members of BMES are not required to be part of the ISE program, and can be both undergraduate and graduate students.
BMES at IU allows students to explore areas in the bioengineering and medical industries by reading papers, visiting companies, and exploring resources here on campus. As a member of BMES, you will acquire professional and practical skills that will further your knowledge in these fields. You will have the opportunity to network with companies around the Bloomington and Indiana areas, which has the potential to provide internship and full-time employment opportunities. You will also become part of a larger whole, with fellow peers who have similar academic and professional goals as yourself. There are also opportunities to hold leadership positions and work closely with faculty in ISE and across campus.
