Club Hockey at Indiana University is a member of the American Collegiate Hockey Association (ACHA). The ACHA is a nationally recognized organization made up of club-level ice hockey teams from all over the United States. The association is divided into four divisions and contains more than 200 men’s and women’s teams. Club Hockey at Indiana University has been in existence since 1968. During the 1980s and 90s IU played in the now extinct MCHL and won 6 championships. In 1992 Dr. Rich Holdeman became head coach and led the Hoosiers to be the top Division II team in the nation and to a record 16 straight trips to the National Championships. The club went through some tough seasons since his departure in 2005 but has rebounded the last couple of years. In the 2019-2020 season, the team finished as the 13th ranked team in the Southeast region of D-II and was one spot short of qualifying for regionals. All of Hoosier’s home games are played at the historic Frank Southern Ice Arena just south of IU’s Bloomington campus.
