North Koreans face unimaginable hurdles even after crossing the border from North Korea.
Many defectors face the dangers of abuse, exploitation, and refoulement by the Chinese Government. Upon their return to North Korea they are subjected to detention camps, torture, and even the possibility of death. Liberty in North Korea (LiNK) is an non-profit organization that ensures refugees safe and free passage through China in hopes of bettering their lives.
Our LiNK at IU chapter is an official Liberty in North Korea Rescue Team. The mission of LiNK at IU is to change the way the world views the North Korean people. We are committed to our fight for freedom by working together to fund one rescue at a time. We are also dedicated to spreading awareness and educating Indiana University students of the gross atrocities committed against these North Korean refugees. We host member meetings and open events every semester to educate our community. Our student organization welcomes any individual interested in learning about and saving the lives of North Korean refugees.
As of April 2020: Over 1200 refugees have been rescued through Liberty in North Korea’s network.
