Read to Succeed

Recent studies have indicated that 3rd graders who are not reading at grade level are at great risk of dropping out of school. In response, Read to Succeed was formed as a one-on-one reading program that will offer Boys & Girls Club youth of all elementary ages a chance to strengthen their reading skills and confidence.

Our program allows student volunteers from Indiana University to partner with elementary-aged students from the Boys & Girls Club of Bloomington for guided reading sessions twice a week. Our volunteers serve as developmental mentors during these guided reading sessions, working to create a positive relationship with their reading buddy while fostering academic development and improvement of reading skills and levels.

Our mission is to connect the youth of the Bloomington Boys and Girls Club to a educational resource which facilitates an environment of learning, fosters personal growth and achievement, and strengthens and improves reading levels for elementary-aged students.
