St. Jude Ambassadors at IU is an organization dedicated to fundraising and raising awareness for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee.
St. Jude is a non-profit hospital dedicated to providing pediatric care at no cost to families. No family is ever sent a bill from St. Jude. The hospital is also committed to finding cures for various diseases such as cancer. Since 1962, the overall childhood cancer survival rate has risen from 20% to 80% nationwide thanks in part to the research conducted at St. Jude. Though significant progress has been made, there is still a long way to go, and St. Jude appreciates every bit of support. Overall, the total daily operating costs for St. Jude amounts to approximately $1.9 million.
Our goal is to help St. Jude in their mission to find cures and provide excellent care to patients around the world by engaging students at Indiana University. Club activities include fundraising events, tabling, canning, social events, and semi-annual trips to St. Jude. Through spreading awareness and encouraging involvement of the IU community, we hope to contribute to a future where no child ever dies of cancer.
