While it’s true that Washington is the epicenter of global politics, it’s also a hotspot for art, activism, entrepreneurship, and public service. D.C. is home to a wide array of national monuments and museums, stellar restaurants, entertainment venues, parks, and other cultural attractions. Plus, the city’s extensive public transportation system makes getting around easy.
If you’re thinking about D.C. as your next destination, this is your ticket to exploring the city and learning about career opportunities before making a decision.
The trek is March 12-15 during Spring Break of the Spring 2023 semester.
In 2019, participants of the DC Career Trek met the late Senator Richard Lugar.
Attend this trek to:
Visit organizations from a variety of industries
Learn from and network with IU alumni and industry professionals
Explore some of D.C.’s historic and cultural sites
Stay 3 nights in downtown Washington, D.C.
Treks help clarify career goals, build confidence in networking situations, and identify ways to secure careers in fields of interest. Previously, organizations like the Washington Post, The New York Times, Environmental Protection Agency, Central Intelligence Agency, various non-profits, graduate programs, and many other organizations participated.
The DC Career Trek program fee is $500. It is billed to your bursar and posted 1 month after official sign-up. After March 1, you will only be reimbursed $250 if you decide to withdraw from the program.
The program fee includes:
3 nights at Motto by Hilton Washington DC City Center
Transportation to and from all program events
6 meals
The program fee does not include
Transportation to Washington, D.C.
Any remaining meals, souvenirs, or other optional or incidental expenses.
We estimate the additional incidental cost is about $125, plus the cost of transportation to D.C.
Career treks are first come, first serve for College of Arts + Sciences students, which includes these programs.
Applications are due Dec. 2, 2022.
IU students in programs outside the College may still apply and will be notified of acceptance after Dec. 2, 2022.
