The Importance of a Professional Portrait (and How to Get One for Free!)

Monday, December 09, 2024

As we approach winter break, you’re probably tying up loose ends to be able to enjoy some well-deserved rest after a big semester. For those graduating this semester or looking for spring internships, now is the perfect time to focus on an often-overlooked aspect of your career journey: your professional portrait.

In today’s job market, a professional online presence is crucial. Employers and recruiters tend to turn to LinkedIn or Handshake to learn more about you. Having a high-quality, polished portrait can make a huge difference in how you’re perceived — both in terms of professionalism and your attention to detail.

Why You Need a Professional Portrait 📷

  • First Impressions Matter:Your profile picture is often the first thing people will see when they check out your online profiles. Whether you’re applying for internships, seeking full-time employment after graduation, or just networking, your photo can make a huge difference.
  • Stand Out from the Crowd:In a sea of applicants, a professional portrait helps you make a memorable impression. If your profile doesn’t have a photo, it will be harder for employers who’ve reviewed your application to remember who you are!
