Are you ready to take the next step in your career journey? The Walter Center for Career Achievement’s Connect Conference  is your opportunity to learn from and make meaningful connections with IU College of Arts and Sciences  alumni that can shape your future. Whether you’re exploring career paths, looking to make new connections, or just want to learn something new, this conference is designed to give you the tools and confidence to succeed in these areas.

❓What is the Connect Conference?

The Connect Conference is an event hosted by the Walter Center for Career Achievement, bringing together College students and alumni for a day of networking, learning, and career development. This event provides you with the chance to hear from experts in your industry, participate in alumni-led workshops, and engage with professionals eager to help students transition into the workforce.

🗣️  Why You Should Attend

Here’s why the Connect Conference is a must-attend event:

❗Networking Opportunities

The free Networking Lunch and Awards Ceremony  in the IMU Solarium is a great opportunity to meet professionals from various industries and build relationships that could lead to internships or job offers.

Have the networking jitters? Practice networking with your peers over appetizers and mocktails  before the luncheon. Career coach advice will be available as well!

❗Industry-Specific Panel Sessions & Workshops

Sit in on panel sessions  to learn from alumni who know what it takes to succeed in today’s job market. You'll also learn about different career paths and opportunities that are possible with your degree that you may not have considered.

✍️ How to Prepare for the Conference

To make the most of your experience at the Connect Conference, consider these key preparation tips:

❗Register for Panel Sessions You Want to Attend

Review the conference schedule and RSVP for a panel session  you wish to attend! This will ensure you have a seat in the room.Bonus:Add the sessions you've RSVPd for to your personal calendar so you don't forget!

❗Research the Attending Alumni

Check the list of participating College alumni ahead of time.Familiarize yourself with their companyor area of work so you can ask insightful questions, resulting in meaningful connections.

❗Perfect Your Elevator Pitch

Your elevator pitch is your chance to introduce yourself with confidence. Practice ashort, compelling introduction that highlights who you are, what you’re passionate about, and what you’re looking for in a career or internship.We'll have a  practice networking session with mocktails  before the networking luncheon — this is a great opportunity to get your networking nerves out before the real deal!

❗Dress for Success

First impressions matter, and dressing professionally will help you feel confident and prepared. Business casual is a great choice, but you're welcome to come dressed as you are.

❗Follow Up After the Event

Networking doesn’t end when the conference does! Send personalized follow-up emails to the professionals you connected with to express your gratitude and interest in staying in touch.Reminder:They're coming to the Connect Conference becausethey want to connect with you!
